I am going to make a pact with my dearest blog. That is, I will try to update almost everyday.

Let's talk about work recently. As usual, working here is a huge torment. Job's rather boring, everyday going through the same itsy bitsy routine. I don't mind if the routine occupies me the whole day, but basically, everything here just lacks of the jolt of enjoyment. Take for example a basic necessity in such an established company. The first thing that comes to mind for an accomplishment of successfully delivering 803 orders on the first day of Chinese New Year, would be our kind of system or how our whole process is being carried out. Much to everyone's surprise, the system here sucks like hell. The company might be able to savour it's success of it's glory this year, but, 1,000 (target for next year's CNY), that will just be another laughing stock.

Firstly, stock taking here is in a huge, glamourous mess! *thumbs up* Anything messy or not tended to, reason being so, "We are doing recovery after Chinese New Year". Bless us all. That's really a way to push things aside.

Secondly, quality control. There is a lack of consistency. Fried items are sometimes burnt, sometimes under cooked. Curry chicken far too oily. Within an hour, a layer of oil as thick as 2cm high glimmers at you and you will be mersmerized by it. Ok fine, if it's Chinese New Year, talk about us giving customers the best decorated Curry Chicken ever with it's glistening and bright cheerful red shawl. Vegetables, either too hard, too soft or too plain. And the worst thing that can happen to any food, the mushrooms that they included in the dishes still carries the taste of that brine that they were soaked in. Not any tinge of the gravy can be tasted. Every single ingredient in the dish stands out from the rest. Sum it all up, it seems to be the Mr Bean's way of drinking coffee, pouring hot water into his mouth, coffee powder, milk, gurgle the solution in his mouth, swallow and ta-dah! You have coffee coming your way. In our case, we have a can of mushrooms, carrots, gravy. vegetable and other ingredients all cooked seperately and only pieced together in the food tray like a jigsaw puzzle. If you can imagine, it would be like eating these things straight out from it's can. Eeeew.

Recently, we had clinch another record. So many complaints! With more orders comes more complaints. I don't see the point in improving in the number of buffet orders delivered but on the other hand, the quality drops. That's incredible. A little child would surely love it. Talk about a little game of see-saw. On one side, threshold of orders are getting higher, on the other side, reputation is being tarnished. Still calling itself Singapore's no. 1 caterer, it is not wrong technically. But is it something against our guilty consience that we should ponder on?

These aside, let's talk about something more personal. In the joyous hours when I was still in the Sales Department, I was told that operations department would hold a better prospect. With more things to do and at least slightly higher responsibility. I eagerly requested for a transfer. But very much to my dismay, work load started to lighten itself. And everytime I asked for something more, it lost it's own weight. And right now, I have absolutely nothing to do. When requested in improving the system in this company, I was only thrown a question in my face squarely, "who are you to suggest anything?". Ok, working here for only a year plus, I hold absolutely nothing worth comparing to those old birds. But I was thinking, shouldn't new birds have fresher ideas when these old birds are already starting to grow moulds and age? Well, that's the whole point about uneducated people who will only be smoked and blinded by those more "educated", people from it's side-line (IT company). And recently, I hear the most hilarious thing ever. "Virus is nothing. As long as you have anti-virus installed, you can be worry-free about your computer network and internal information". I wonder if the higher positions know, IT keeps propelling itself forward, never once stopping to take a break, thus never stagnant. And to my horror, he actually believed in investing in anti-viruses without other means of backup. And another joke to add, he even invest in a rack with promises to be able to guard off fire. And guess what? it is just an ordinary black metal rack with it's sides left uncovered.

Will stop here at the moment and continue later on. Goodbye! (:
