I enjoyed my work until when the hour hand strikes 11pm. I think I am never going to work till 2 am unless I need more money. Being a waitress at ST Regis is quite a tough job. The guests invited there would keep looking at you when you are serving them or pouring their drinks. On my first day of work which is on last Thursday (31/02/08), a buffet for the Singapore Tourism Board was being held there in both the ballrooms 'John Jacob 1' and 'John Jacob 2'. My job was fairly simple. All we had to do as buffet helpers are to keep an eye on the number of plates and cutlery etc. Initially, both Melvynn and I were told to look after the french section of the buffet table. But soon after that, Melvynn 'promoted' himself to collect the used plates and wine glasses that the guests leaves aside. I had to use 1 pair of fork to pick the oysters up for the guests, and it's rather a tough job. The main job ended at 11pm when hell comes right after that. We were told to set tables for another event held the next day. 1 ballroom needed a chinese setting and the other is a western one. Quite cool when you can learn all sort of settings of the cutlery. The second time I worked was just yesterday (Sunday, 03/02/08). It was a wedding dinner held at both the ballrooms. It consisted of at least 400 guests including the VIPs. I was the beverage server for the table 15. Hardwork!! I had to concentrate hard and make sure I don't spill a single drip of any beverage on the table or the guests. 1 guy got scalded when he was topping up the chinese tea from the dispenser and I think it was quite serious. The temperature of the water was definately more than the hot water provided at the 7-eleven. The worst part of my hell time came when it strikes 11pm. As usual, we had to clear the tables everything and set cutlery for the new table. After we were completed with the table settings, we were told to count and bundle the soiled napkins into bundles of 10 and sort them out my type and colour. Hardwork alright? Imagine having 400 guests before that who were using the napkins. Most napkins had cake and red wine stains. It was actually a wonder that the machine can wash off all stains.
My aunt bought for me a black converse bag from the converse in Jurong Point just yesterday. So nice!! I have been wanting that bag since it arrived in the shops. It cost $69.90, but I had a discount given by my friend who is working for that shop. So happy! My dream bag. *hahas*
Was quite pissed off with Wei Da and Boon Yong yesterday on the way to work as we argued on whether or not we should work till 2am. They kept insisting on working till 11pm but I did otherwise. In the end, we got quite fed-up with each other and ended up not talking on the way there. Felt quite bad :(( Anyway, managed to share locker with Boon Yong in the end :)) So started talking bit by bit. Yesterday was some sort of unlucky day for me. Once again, I sprained my left wrists as I have to carry the tray using the left hand, which is also my master hand and due to the excess force exerted on my left wrist, the pain that was caused by a sparring session half a year ago relaspe. Such a sharp painful sensation!! Besides my wrist, another injury was caused by quite a heavy door that is closing. The edge of the door handle knocked into my hip bone and was so pain. Although the pain subsided now, the feeling is still there :(( First time I see Boon Yong so caring. *hahas* Was actually quite shocked. *bleahs*
Not much to write about now. So tired. Hope to continue tomorrow. Bye all! :))
By the way, I hope Boon Yong enjoys his holiday in China, Shanghai!!
